Who is required to obtain a distributor's license? A distributor's license must be obtained by any person or entity distributing lawful gambling equipment in Minnesota.
Lawful gambling equipment means bingo hard cards, bingo paper sheets, bingo paper packages, bingo paper sheet packets, devices for selecting bingo numbers, electronic bingo device (bingo minder), pull-tabs, jar tickets, paddlewheels, paddlewheel tables, paddletickets, paddleticket cards, tipboards, tipboard tickets, pull-tab dispensing devices, or promotional tickets that mimic a pull-tab or tipboard. How much is the application fee? The application fee is $6,000. A license is valid for one year. What do we submit to apply for a distributor's license? Submit the following to the Minnesota Gambling Control Board.
How long does the licensing process take? For a new distributor application, the license process may take approximately 16 weeks or more, depending on background investigations. Completed application forms are sent to the Department of Public Safety for a background check and to the Department of Revenue for a tax clearance. You will be charged for any background investigation expenses. Upon receipt of the completed background check and tax clearance, your application will be presented to the Minnesota Gambling Control Board for consideration at a monthly board meeting.
